Websites I’ve come across that I’ve enjoyed reading. Most have to do with writing, some about movies, and even more about video or tabletop games. All of them enjoyable.
Blogroll
The Creative Penn
Joanna Penn has been in the business for a long time (since 2008, according to her blog), so I’d be hard-pressed not to add her to this list. The site started out as most do, an aspiring author blogging her adventures in writing, but as she moved through the space, she started podcasting and building a community with whom she still holds dear to this day, even after publishing multiple fiction and non-fiction works.
CRPG Addict
It’s a simple premise: a guy plays old-school role-playing games and blogs his thoughts and experiences. It’s decidedly old-school, like the games he plays, and it works so well. The blog has been active since 2010 and has over 2,000 posts, so there’s plenty of content to get engrossed in.
Helping Writers Become Authors
K.M. Weiland first hit my radar with her self-help writing book, Creating Character Arcs. She has written many books to help writers fine-tune their craft, in hopes that they become published authors. Her website is an extension of that. A place for her to collect her ideas and share with the writing world.
Lia Wolff
An author of short fiction with well-thought-out articles. She hasn’t been active since 2014, and the new site (LiaWolff.com) doesn’t appear to be live 🙁 Incorrectly correct it to LiaWolf.com for a surprise.
Nathan P. Mahney
I’m linking to his Blogger profile page because that’s the best way to fully understand who Nathan is. He’s the author of a pulp science fiction novel (sequel still coming?), but he’s also a blogger on various sites reviewing comics, playing tabletop games, and even WWE chronology. His current blog is Save or Die!
Steven H. Wilson
An author (novels, short fiction, and comic books), podcaster, family man, and so much more. His last post was in 2025, so I’m not sure if he’s still active online, but good articles nonetheless.
