LXII. Grumpy Old Men

Rip off that craggy mask
and let the world behold
the venomous monster
hidden behind blue eyes.

Release your buried pain
on the unsuspecting;
make them feel your anger,
witness your own demise.

You’ll hide yourself away
like Smeagol in the dark,
awaiting your moment
to pounce on the unwise.

It’s not too late to change,
but change requires work,
and you’ve been unemployed
with naught to utilize.
