LXVII. Control

From first young breath and beat of heart,
mastery is wrestled away,
taken by those who sowed their seeds,
to yield a life that will obey.

Dominion holds until the fall,
captured by love’s blinding maelstrom.
A leap is made with fleeting heart,
passion creating a kingdom.

Sowing seeds wrought of affection,
passing lineage and pure soul,
prayers rise up for a righteous path,
bestowed by He who’s in control.

Inevitably, time must end,
weariness of life takes its toll,
pulling flesh and blood to the earth
One last time, we give up control.
