LXXII. Damn You, Good Morning

I love you, good morning,
Washing away the blight,
Allowing the freedom,
To wallow in the light.
You obscure the darkness,
Veiled from our simple sight,
And push away the cold,
Death’s effect oh so slight,
But you fail to notice,
The gloom that comes at night,
The shadows in the cracks,
Sheltered from your bright,
Death’s fingers creeping in,
Despite all of my might,
Cutting into my bones,
My everlasting plight,
You try to warm my heart,
And much to my delight,
You thrive one more cycle,
Another day upright.
