LXXVII. The Professor & The Captain

I was just a child
when I first saw you
standing on the bridge
of the Starship Enterprise.

You held yourself
with dignity and grace,
leading noble adventures
straight from my imagination.

Feeling like a father,
teaching me so much—
I became a better man
because you led the way.

Years of Shakespeare
and traditional stage fare
built the poise and command
that made you who you were.

With tough love, you stood tall
against the Harkonnen and the hatred,
a master of defense
teaching us how to fight.

Then, you took the mantle
of Charles Xavier,
and it was the perfect fit
because you were the professor,
and upon us, you bestowed
your greatest wisdom,
“Just because someone stumbles
and loses their way,
it doesn’t mean they’re lost forever.
Sometimes we all need a little help.”
