Wake up, darkness before the dawn,
Bags tagged, security line metronome,
Waiting, boarding, reading until I land.

New city in a new state, new task at hand,
Rental car, hotel carousel, respawn,
Long day—what day(?)—brain rot syndrome.

New day, saddle up, I am going home,
Bliss can wait, another trip planned,
Enjoy your free time before it is gone.

Free verse poetry is a flexible style of writing that does not use fixed rules, rhyme schemes, or set meter. Despite that, I wrote this with a rotating rhyming scheme that loops back upon itself to reflect the rotating pattern of travel. I also rotated the syllable pattern keeping it with variations of 8, 10, 10.
