Terza rima is a poetic form using three-line stanzas (tercets) with an interlocking chain-rhyme scheme (ABA BCB CDC). Created in Italy by Dante Alighieri for the Divine Comedy, the middle line of each stanza sets the rhyme for the next, creating a forward pull that finishes with a final line or couplet.
